CARTERTON.
At Messrs. Stevens Bros.* farm at Belvedere on Saturday, a crop of wheat yielded 54} bushels to the acre, and two tons of straw to the aero was pressed. t A homer pigeon, bearing the leg ring No. 198, NX 1911-12, was killed at Carterton on Monday by a cat. On Saturdav the back axle bf a brake belonging to the "W.F.C.A. broke, while in service., out at Belvedere, l'ortunately no one was hurt, and another conveyance was procured to enable the journey to be resumed. , Sergeant V. Morgan and Mr. D. Robertson have been appointed lieutenants in the Carterton territorials. On' Saturday Mr. Geo. Ritchie, son of Mrs. Ritchie, of Carterton, was admitted to the Taihape Hospital suffering from appendicitis.
