WELLINGTON COLLEGE GOVERNORS.

At a meeting of the Wellington College Governors, held yesterday morning, the chief discussion hinged upon tho alleged exclusion of twelve students from the Girls' High School, owing to tho lack of accommodation. The situation was argued at some length, and it was mov«<!,bv Mr. W. H: Field that a sub-com-mittee be set up to personally investigate the matter. The chairman, Mr. A. de B. Brandon was against this procedure, for he said it was .not tho business of tho board to interfere with the scholastic arrangements of tho school in anv way. Mr. BrandoL said that personally he and the board as a wholo had no knowledge of the innor workings of a school or tho number of pupils required for a class. However, the sub-committee was set up, and consisted of Miss Richmond 'and Messrs. Lee and Ward. This committco found upon thoir arrival yesterday afternoon at the school that tho twelve pupils had requested ,to be admitted, but had failed to present themselves on (ITe opening day, and were therefore not excluded, although the school was congested. Concerning the appointment of pupila, the bos.rd empowered tho chairman to appoint tsachers suggested bv Miss JfLean, the principal of the Girls' High Sohool, and approved of by himself. In the financial statomont the balance to dnfo was £2291 ss. 6d.
