MISS MARIE LOHR.
Miss Marie Lohr, tho popular young actress, is to marry Mr. Anthony Prinsep, second son of the late Mr. Val Prinsep, R.A. There is no more popular figure on tho London stage than the young actress, who, though only twenty-one, has alrcnay won her way to the front rank, and it 'is good news that marriage will not immediately withdraw her from the playgoing public. .Miss Lohr was born at Sydney on July 2S, 1890, and is tho only daughter of Mrs. L. J. Lohr, better known as Miss Kate Bishop, the popular actress, with whom she lives in a delightful flat between the Strand and tho Thames. Sho was only six when' sho made her first appearance on tho stago in the Australian city- of her birth. Her introduction to the London public came in December, 1901, when she took part in "The Man Who Stole the Castle." Then followed a tour with the Kendals as Barbara Trecarrel, iu "St. Martin's Summer," and in 1905 sho was at the St. James's Theatre as tho Princess in "White Magic." The year 190G is. important, m her career, as witnessing her first appearance at His Majesty's Theatre as Rosey Mackenzie in "Colonel Noweome," the scene of so many subsequent triumphs. In tho following "year sho was in "My Wife," at tho Haymarket, and at the same theatre, in'lOOS, played Irene Foster in "Her Father," after another tour with tho Kendals. In the' autumn of tho samo vear her Marguerite, in "Faust,", at His Majesty's, won all-round praise, and sho followed this up with a successful Cinderella in "Pinkie and tho Fairies." Sho also played Lady Teazlo in Sir Herbert Tree's revival of "A School for Scandal." At present sho is the Marquise Fernando do Montclars in "The Marionettes," at the Comedy Theatre. In October, 1910, great' interest was aroused by the announcement of her engagement to Mr. Robert Lornino, the well-known nctor-airninn, with whom sho had plaverl in "Getting Married," at the Haymarket in 1908, and in "A School for Scandal." The engagement was afterwards terminated.
