Br SUomnh.—Smclsl ComisondeEU Wanoanui, February 22. A special meeting of the Borough Council is to be held on Monday evening to elect a Mayor in place of Mr. Mackay, who resigned on Wednesday. The selection of Mr. Jas. T. Muir, as tho Labour party's candidate at the forthcoming Mayoral election, did not come 03 any surprise. Mr. Muir was badly beaten by Mr. Mackay in a previous contest, but ho was not then known to many of the electors as chairman of Mr. Veitch's Election Committee. He has come into muoh more prominence lately. It is understood that Mr. Mackay will stand again.
