Christchurch, February 22. , There was a very good attendance at the concluding night of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Championship meeting. M. E. Champion wan the W0 yards, and put up a New Zealand record of smiu. 4Ssec. The result was received with continuous cheering, as r also was llio announcement that-this mado the twentysecond New Zeala-nd championship won by Champion, in addition to others outside the Dominion, notably the English long distance championship. The points were as follow:— Shield Points. Taldhurst Shield—Auckland, 51; Canterbury, 20; Wellington, 6; Hawko's Bay, 1; Otago, 1. ... When half Ihe distance had been covered Welson was leading, with Seymour, Newman, and M'Quilluu following in the order given., which was maintained unaltered for the remainder of the distance.
