AND SOME INTERJECTIONS. CIRCUS AND CLOWN. Mr. VIGOR BROWN (Napier) rose to fill the gap. He said the Opposition had been for 21 years trying-to get on to tho Government benches, but they were as far off them as ever. Let them wait till the division came. (Opposition cries of "Lot's havo it," "Tako it now," etc.). He compared tho Opposition to a travelling circus. (Laughter.), " " Dr. Pom'are: You're the clown. (Laughter.) . ••,-... A refcrerico to the Conservative ranks caused -Mr. Massey to interject, "That's where vou'were.onoe,": and the House laughed".' ' Mr. Brown: "And if you ever catch mo in the Conservative ranks again you can choke me. (Laughter.) I had enough of it." Mr. Drown went on to charge tho Opposition with being no friends of Labour. They did not support tho Labour candidates. Mr. Massey: We supported a Labour man against you. (Laughter.) Mr. Brown retorted that it was Mr. Masssy who had got him in. "If," he said, "lie had not come to Napier, I don't believo I would havo got elected to this House." (Laughter.) An hon. member: That doesn't say much for you. Mr. Brown went on to refer to tho beneficent legislation passed by tho Libera! party, and to uphold its borrowing poliev. During his speech Mr. Brown made references to the landowners in lluwkc's Bay and to their atompts by cutting up their land to'evado the land tax. Ho mentioned names, areas, and values.
