INTERESTING EVIDENCE.

Before (he Sugar Commission, (wo jam manufacturers gave evidence that they were perfectly satisfied with the manner in which they had been treated by the Colonial Sugar Company. They considered the price fair. Ex-Senator J'ulsford (a prominent Free Trader) declared that the duty of .fcfi a ton nil went to this profit of the industry. Tin's meant an annual charge on the people, of .£1,3-10,000 a year, which would be greater in the future, aggregating fifteen million pounds in the next ten years. The duly tended to develop Queensland at the expense of the other States.
RIVAL FIRM'S CASE. ALLEGED FEAR OF REPRISALS. (Rec. February 22, 9 p.m.) Sydney, February 22. The manager for Messrs. Gibbs, Bright and Co.'s sugar department, in giving evidence before (he Sugar Commission today, said he was convinced that sugar prices were fixed in Sydney so as to keep out importations. People were afraid to deal wilh his linn, because they said if they did so the Sugar Company would drop prices, and they would be getting dearer sugar. They were also afraid that the Sugar Company would not supply them again. The witness instanced a case where he had almost secured an order for six thousand tons of sugar, but was blocked by the Sugar Company dropping prices.
