The monthly meeting of the Victoria College Council was held last night, ihcre were present: Messrs. C. Wilson chairman), J. Graham. J. G. W. Hie resignation of llr. H. T. Von Haast as a member of the council was accepted, with regret, and the registrar was instructed to carry out the election to fill the vacancy. Complimentary references were made to the valuable services rendered to the college by Jlr. Von Ilnast whom several speakers described as the most industrious member of the council. He had been conducting negotiations with Jlr. 1). liobertson, Secretary for tho Post and Telegraph Department as to tho teaching of students at Victoria College. H« understood the Government would suli-f-idise such teaching as might be given to officers in the . Department. It would be easy to give instruction in wireless telegraphy, but apparently the Department did not set much value upon this. Professor Laby was asked to continue the negotiations and to keep the council informed as to their progress.
Messrs. Turnbull and Jones, Ltd., the well-known electrical engineers, who are carrying out the Taihape electrical contract, have been entrusted with the supply and erection of a complete electrical plant for the Boss Goldfields, Ltd., Hokitika. says the Tnihnpe "Daily Times." The value of the machinery, which consists of a Diecel crude petroleum engine of 250 horse-power, a 3 phase alternator with exciter and switchboard, amounts to nearly .frfOOO. The whole of the above plant will be manufactured at the works of the British Westinghoiise Co. in Jlancherter, EusUind.
