PEOPLE'S DAY, OVER TEN THOUSAND PRESENTMISHAPS IN JUMPS. Favoured with the fine weather .which prevailed yesterday, the Mastertoii A. and P." Association reaped the full benefit of the immense amount of work which has this year been put into their splendid annual show. The attendance on "People's Day" was estimated at over 10,000, and residents of the district made the day a true gala. Motor-cars, horses, and. vehicles of all descriptions rolled into the show ground all the morning, • and, bylunch time, the pretty native bush which tkirts. the ground was sheltering dozens tf picnic, parties—mostly ladies and children—whilst thousands of others patrolled the stock pens and the ■ ring side. Amongst those present was his. Excellency tho Governor, who arrived by the morning train, and is to return' to Wellington to-day. ' Iα the ladies' jumping competition an unfortunate accident befell Miss Angus, , the rider of "Rata." This horse is recognised as a very safe one, but he blundered badly nt the first fence, and the resultant fall rendered his,rider liiiconRcious for some time. After receiving first aid on the ground. Miss Angus was removed to the hospital. \r the champion jumping event C. M'Larcn's Comrade made a bad mistake, ami rolled on Ms rider, Mr. D. Bennett, who, however, was'fortunate to escape with nothing worse than a very severe snaking. iYeast also' fell in the consolation jump, and his rider, Mr. 'T. Small, was. badly bruised. •■-•-•
