(From Oar SDCcial OorresDondent.) v The funeral of fcho late Mt. J. Young took plitco on Tuesday, and was largely attended. The cortege proceeded from tho Church of St. Peter and Si. Paul, Lower Hutt, to the Petono Catholic ccnwtery, where service was conducted by the I!ev. Father Lane. A movement is on foot to form a deputation to wait on the Minister for Railways protesting against the number of times that a passenger on the KuttWellington lino fins to show his or her ticket. The deputation will not ask for the removal of inspectors altogether, hut will request that the nuisance l;e abated. The long wait at the different stations is giving rise, to complaint, and that matter also will be brought before the Minister. The annual conference of the Wellington District Committee of the Independent Order of Oddfellows, M.U., began at the Town Hall, Lower. Hutt, on Tuesday. Bro. C. M. King, of Newtown Lodge, was elected Grand Master. The report stated that tlio progress made had beenl greater than that of past years. After business had been disposed of, the assembly adjourned to Bellevue Gardens for dinner, and thence went on to Wellington, where they attended the initiation ceremony of his Excellency tho Governor.
