NEW ARMY RIFLE.

Lord Haldane, Secretary of State for War, replying in the Ilouse of Lords to the criticisms of Lord Roberts and others, declared that viewing the arms as a whole, tbo British Army was as well equipped as any in tho world. Tests were now being carried out with a view lo adopting a new rifle, which, if it fulfilled the claims matlo for it, would bo the finest in the world. The rifle was not automatic, but he differed with the opinions expressed as to the advantages of the automatic rille.
