DOMINION CHAMPIONSHIPS. (Bt Telecraoh—Press Association.! Christchurch, February 20. Tho New Zealand Amateur Swimming championship meeting was resumed tonight at the Municipal Tepid Baths. The attendance was very large. Mr. K. Bassott, on behalf of the Canterbury Head Centre of tho Royal Life Saving Society, presented tho Now Zealand Amateur Swimming Association with the Wigram Shield. The following are tho results of tho championship events:—
One Mile Championship. Final: M. E. Champion (Waitemata), 1; C. Wolson (Waitemata), 2; C. 11. 11. Rich (Opawa), 3. Also competed: It. Newman (Duncdin), nnd L. Hill (Papanui). Won by two lengths and a half, Rich being four lengths behind Wclson Champion's time was 25min. 1 l-sscc, thus lowering tho-New Zealand record, but not lowering his recent performance (not yet officially recognised) of 24 min. 48sec. Welson's time was 26min. 13 sec, Newman's 28min, 17sec. Life-saving Championship (Wigram Shield). First round: Canterbury No. 2 team (F. Collins, .T. Kiddey, J. Mathews, A. B. Coote); time, Grain. 5 4-ssec. Second round: Canterbury No. 1 team P. Schwartz, J. Bristed, D. Coulter, and H. Fitzsimmons); time, smin. 48 4-ssec. Third round: Wellington team (W. A. Ellis, G. Avery, A. A. Somerville, and K. D. Russell); time, Gmiu. 7 3-ssec. Fourth round: Otago team (R. M. Newman, A. If. Burrows, C. S. Roberts, D. G. Stronach); time, Gmin. 14 2-ssec. Results: Canterbury No. 1, 1; Canterbury No. 2, 2; Wellington, 3. , 220 Yards Breast-stroke. First heat: L. Poison (Sydenham), 1; W. R. Horton (Waitemata), 2; L. Roberts (Dunedin), 3. Also competed: T. Woodcock (Swifts), P. A. A. Schwartz (East Christchurch). Time, 3min. lOsec. Horton's time was 3min. 20sec—a standard. Second heat: W. E. Cookson (East Christchurch), 1; N. M'Cartney (Napier), 2; Q. J. Kin™ (Thorndou), 3. Also competed: F. Truscott (Opawa), A. C. M'Pherson (Kaiapoi). Time, 3min. 27 l-sscc. M'Cartney's time was Sinin. 27 3-ssec, and he gained the standard.
Final-L. Poison (Sydenham), 1; W. E. Cookson (East Christchurch), 2; W. R. Horton (Waitemata), 3. Also competed: L. Roberts (Duncdin), N. M'Cartney (Napier), G. .T. King (Thorndon). Time, 3min. 19 2-ssec. Ladies' Championship. Ladies' Championship, first contest for the title, lOOyds.-Miss A. O'Lcary (Masterton), 1; Miss ,T. Mnckay (Waitemata), 2; Miss M. Motion (Dunedin), 3. Also competed: Miss M. Ostler (Richmond), Mks G. Endo (Christchurch), Miss Ransomo (Christchurch). Won by ten yards, Miss Mackay beating Miss Motion by two yards. Time, lmin. 26jec.
