'THE SPORTS AT •PETONE. The Petone Junior Club held an amateur athletic meeting on the Petone Recreation Ground oh Saturday. The day was pleasant, and (here was a good attendance A result of Saturday's running' is that J. M'Kcnsrie wins the cup for the greatest aggregate scored in the club during the season. In the walking race (one mile) Kerr and Cashman were watched with interest. Kerr, from scratch, started at a very fast pacs-and .soon overhauled Cashmaii (on 10yds.). Kerr was not at his best, bowever, and failed to win the event; in fact, Cashman beat him for second place by about 7 yards. The performance of the three Hickling boys in finishing first, second, and third in the half-mile walk, for boys, was a groat performance and a tribute to their father s training.
