On Saturday morning tho death occurred at Lower Hutt of Mr. John Young, licensee of the Family Hotel. Deceased, who was 70 years of age, was ono of the old pioneers of Now Zealand, p.nd played a part in the Maori wars. Ho had resided in tho Hutt district for tho past ten years.

Successful harvest thanksgiving services were conducted nt the Petone Primitive Methodist Church yesterday. Tho preachers wero tho Rev. 11, Cotton) and the Rev. P. J. Cossom. Special hymns were sung. A meeting and sale:of. products will be held to-night.

At the Petone Tolicp Court on Saturday morning, a. local resident was convicted on a chargo of drunkenness, and "a" prohibition order issued against him.
