Two men jumped from a taxi-cab aud entered a jeweller's shop in Maiden Lane, New York. They then seized and teat the jeweller, and dashed off with a large booty, valued at ,£3OOO. Robberies have been so numerous that business men are applying for permission to carry revolvers.

Three men spTang on a taxi-cab conveying money from the East River National Bank to another bank. Two of the men belaboured the messenger's head until he was partly unconscious, the third covering the chauffeur with a revolver. They secured JJ3OOO and escaped.
ALLEGED BIGAMOUS SWINDLER, (Rcc. February 18, 5.5 p.m.) New York, February 17. The police at Oakland, California, are seeking a man representing himself as Sir Harry Westwood Cooper. Tho man is alleged to bo breaking his parole after having been sentenced for procuring money on false pretences. He is also declared to have bigamonsly married a wealthy woman cs his sixth wife. FOUR MURDERERS HANGED. Chicago, February IG. Four murderers, who had been guilty of the murder of a foreigner named Guelzows, were hanged together in the State gaol. Tho four (he previous night gave way to an hysterical outburst. They fought the warders fiercely, but were ultimately overpowered by main force. Tho whole of the Polish community endeavoured to secure the pardon of two of the condemned men, but failed. Tho men were carried in a semi-consci-ous condition to the scaffold.
