MASTERTON NOTES.
(By Telesrapb.-Special Correspondent.) Masterton, February 18. Msitors are already arriving in considerable numbers for next week's show, and the attendance is likelv to exceed all previous records. Lord Islington has intimated his intention of being present on I copies Day.' The weather took up to-day, and there is now every indication of its being fine for show week. During the past ton davs four inches of ram have been registered in this district, and turnip and, other root crops hayo benefited' considcrablv, whilst grass is in abundance.
Ihe Masterton Chamber of Commerce has set up a committee to report upon railway services to and from town. It has also appointed a committee to inquire- if there is .any possibility of acquiring land in the neighbourhood of the town for fruit growing purposes. On Saturday a team of Woodville bowlers were defeated by a Masterton team by 28 points to 13.
