BUTTER FOR CANADA.
A GROWING TRADE.
The export of butter from Auckland to Vancouver has shown a rapid increase this season. This increase has been so noticeable that inconvenience has been caused to local exporters, owing to shortage of space, for the produce iu the outgoing Vancouver steamers. Inquiries made on Tuesday (says the "Herald") showed that the shortage of space was due to Australian shippers having arranged for most of the cargo sjiace for dairy produce, while New Zealand exporters had not made the nc«'s.~ary application for space, not having anticipated the phenomenal growth this srason of the export of butter to Vancouver. The New Zealand-Vancouver service, is subsidised by Canada anil New Zealand, and a reporter ascertained that the New Zealand exporters would be qnite within their rights in doma-nding the space, but this, it is understood, they do not care to do. However, New Zealand c-xpqrtors will have the first chance' for space next season. As indicating the great growth of the Vancouver trade this season it might be mentioned that only 1931) boxes of butter were exported to Vancouver up to this time last season, as against U.27G boxes for the present seasou.
