THE EIGHT KIND IN DEMAND.
Referring to the reennt shipments of draught horses from the Blulf to Melbourne, a Southland writer says that during the next few weeks a number of shipments will be made, and buyers have been quietly making up shipments during the month or more. The fact that Melbourne buyers had been operating has given a stimulus to Southland shippers, and it is quite evident that if the right kind of horse is sent acros? there is an eager demand in the Commonweal th.
According to the latest issue of the "Australasian," the opinion has been expressed by a gentleman once largely interested in the horse trade, that draught horses are going to be dearer than ever. He attributes this to the demand that will set in for them for use on tho overland railway. As the autumn is the season for stock sales in horse-breeding districts, all surplus animals being then disposed of, farmers will be well advised if they are not too eager in disposing of animals suitable for carting. '
