STRONG OPPOSITION CAMPAIGN. By Telegraph-Press Affiociation-Copyriffbt Sydney, February 15. Mr. Wade, Leader of Hie Opposition, is lending a strong campaign against tho Government's new taxation vroP°sals, which he declares are unnecessary. Keferring to the rapid rise of rents, he declared that Mr. Griiiith (Minister for AVorks) had seized the opportunity to ask the exorbitant rent of twenty-one shillings for a cottage of three rooms and a kitchen'. In view of the meeting of Parliament next week, Cabinet has been discussing the trouble arising out of the revolt of members, including wvoral Labourites, against Mr. Speaker Willis's rulings and the depletion of the. Hansard staff.
The Attorney-General (.Mr. Holman) states that he has come to the conclusion that the Speaker lias not tho Ministerial power attributed to liiili by the Royal Commission's recent report, but that he is amenable to Parliament.
