LANCfFORD BEATS BARRY. Br TcleeraDh—Press Association—Conyrle&t Sydney, February 13. Langforcl defeated Barry on points, after twenty rounds, it was a stubborn fight. THE WELLINGTON REGATTA. SEVENTY ENTRIES. Given lino weather on Saturday, the Wellington Rowing Association's regatta promises to be the most successful held hero for years. No fewer than 70 entries liavo been received from Auckland, Diinedin, Christchurch, I'icton, Blenheim (Blenheim and Wairan Clubs) Westport (Kawntiri Club), Wanganui, and, locally, the Stnr, Wellington, and I'etone Clubs. The competing crews will include all tho champion crews which figured recently at the New Zealand championship rowing regatta held on Lake Waihola, with the exception of S. C. Stone (tho champion single sculler), hi ouo event—tho Maiden Fours—thirteen crews will compete. As the weather is ever such an uncertain element in Wellington, alternative arrangements have been made to provide for conditions dependent on the direction of the wind. If it is blowing from the north, and it is found expedient to hold the regatta on the northern side, a blue flag will be flown from the staff of the General Post Ottice, and, if it is possible to race at the Wellington (southern) end 'of the harbour, a red flag will be hoisted. The first race is scheduled to start at 1.30 p.m. The principal entries are as follows:— Junior Fours,—Petone, Star, Canterbury, Picton, Nelson, and Blenheim.

Senior Pairs.—Wellington, Picton, Star, Canterbury, Wanganui Union. Maiden Double Sculls.—Petone, Star, Blenheim, Canterbury, Wanganui Union, Wellington, and Avon.
