COLLINS'S CASE.

POLICE EVIDENCE BELIEVED. ..The case against John William Collins —an accusation that he was disorderly while under the influence of liquor on Monday night—was continued. Police evidence had been given on Tuesday to the effect that Collins had been quarrelling with another man in Manners Street, and had been warned, and, subsequently, arrested. Collins and two. others had sworn that there was no disturbance, and the case had been adjourned, as Collins said that he could obtain still another witness. When the case was continued yesterday, Mr. A. Salek appeared for Collins, and explained that the witness was at present laid up, and said that, moreover, there would not bo a great deal to gain in calling him. Collins was fined £.1.

BEWARE OF ROTOROA. Henry Pankhurst, a prohibited person, was charged with insobriety, with breaking his prohibition order, and with damaging a cell door. Ho pleaded guilty to the first two charges and, though he did not remember damaging the cell door, ho did not dispute the watchhouse-kceper's evidence. He was convicted of insobriety, fined .83 for breaking his order, and £X for damaging the.door of the cell. As this was Pankhurst's second breach of a prohibition order, his Worship warned him that he might be sent to the institute for inebriates at Rotoroa.

SHE WOULD QUIT THE CITY.. . Mary Dakin pleaded guilty of insobriety, and ..asked for "a chance." She stated that she had a train ticket to Wanganui, and would leave for there at once if given the opportunity. She was convicted and- discharged, and the. police were directed to see that 6ho entrained for Wanganui. at midday.

OTHER CASES/ For insobriety Thomas Caffrcy was fined ■ 10s., William Cubby il, and John M'Gann £1. Arthur .Joseph Wicks, for whom Jfr. A. L. Herdiuan appeared, was committed for trial on a serious' charge.
