THE TOTALISATOR.

The Now South Wales Totalisator Commission is sitting hero,' and has taken a largo quantity of evidence. The president of the Young Men's Christian Association opposed the machine on moral grounds. He said it tempted men to gamble where they otherwise -would not.
The president of the Jockey Club, and the chairman of tho Racing Club strongly supported the machine. The latter claimed thnt it encouraged clean, fair sport, and that the prosperous condition of racing was largely due to the totalisator.
