THAT BOMBSHELL.
One of the stories Ministerial journals are circulating with great unanimity at the present juncture, in an endeavour to bolster up the dwindling hopes of the supporters of the Government, is to the effect that the PimiK Minister has some bombshell to explode which will scatter consternation amongst his opponents. No doubt it is only reasonable to allow our "Liberal" friends soniu little latitude in this direction, although it is difficult to see how it can profit them in the end. For instance, at the Government caucus last evening, we arc told, Sin Joseph Ward left his expectant followers as ignorant as ever regarding his intentions. They were called together apparently .to talk ivbout anything but the subject that is really'interesting them and that directly concorns the future of the party. Presumably the Government does not trust its following any more than it trusts anyone else, and not even a glimpse of the Prime Minister's bombshell was vouchsafed to those who assembled at the Ministerial residence last evening. Like the obedient followers they have always been the party made, no protest aiid apparently broke up as wise as ever as to whether Sir. Joseph Wai:i> will resign, or pledge (hem (o fresh extravagances or anything else. It is not lit all surprising that, many of (he rank and file of ihe "Liberal" following think a change of leadership desirable. The wonder is thai they have not mustered up the courage lo make their views mi I lie subject, felt.
