DANNEVIRKE SHOW.

THE THIRD YEAR

STRONG IN DAIRY CATTLE,

ENTRIES GROWING,

(By Telegraph—Special liepprter.)

Dannevirke, February U.

The Dannevirke A. and P. Association's third annual show, which was held to-day in fine\ weather, must ho ranked as one of the foremost "single day" shows in the North Island. The cattlo. and horse eections were particularly welt filled, the dairy cattle classes especially being a feature of the gathering. , The three outstanding purebred classes' were Ayrshires, Jerseys, and Holsteins, each of these classes affording very keen competition. Herefords and Polled Angus were also represented, but tho response to the six Shorthorn -classes was only two entries by one breeder. I'at cattle were not much in evidence, there being only half a> dozen mediocre entries for. six classes.

Saddle and harness horses nnd draughts made a fairly convincing show. A fairly large number of fat sheep were penned, and, on the whole, they were a good lot. The long-wool classes were excellent, but eomo of the shorn exhibits lacked finish. In the fat lamb classes there was a heavy entry and keen competition amongst animals of excellent quality. With the exception of the English and Border Leicesters'all the purebred classes were well filled.

As in most of the spring and' Summer shows, pigg were not much in evidenceThe only entry was in Berkshire*, and this was only a poor class. Taken altogether tho entries for the show constitute a record for the association, and the attendance was also something like a record onci the estimate being' between 6000 and 7000.
