The Minister of the Interior, Senor Abraham Gonzalez, who was visiting Chihuahua in order to pacify the rebels, was cut oft' through the bridges being burned on the railroads. Ho was unable to return, and had' a narrow escape of capture, but the conductor of the hand car on which he travelled hid him when ho was overtaken by tho rebels. A detachment of soldiers on a relief train finally rescued him.
