CENTRE MEETS.

TEAM FOR CHAMPIONSHIPS. ■ The Wellington Centre of the Amateur Athletic Association held a meeting iu the Y.M.C.A. buildings on Saturday evening. The chief business of the meeting, was the selection of a team to send smith to represent Wellington in the Now Zealand championships. Mr. M'Villy presided. The following are the names of those selected, with the events each is to contest: — 11. Kerr (walks). L. M'Kay (polo, hop, skip, and jump, putting the shot). V. Bvrne (half-mile). Morris Pool (100 yds. and 220,vd5.). A. Bissett (hammer and shot). J), (tollman (walke). A. Kvcnscn (laiyds. hurdles, high jump, and pole vault). The team will leave Wellington on the Saturday night, and leave Invcrcargill again on Thursday on the return trip. The question of malinger was discussed, and it was decided that if Mr. Kitto was, as he proposed, going to the meeting, at his own expenses, to ask him to till the position. If Mr. Kitto does not go, a manager will be appointed out of the team. A. T. Duncan intimated to the Selection Committee that, even if selected, he would be prevented from making tlio trip, on account of business. W. Q. Harding has gone out of training, and cmilcl not, therefore, be selected.
