MAKARA COUNTY COUNCIL.
The Makara County Council met yesterday. Present: Councillors J. H. liagRerty .(chairman), Taylor, l< , . T. Moore, Eastwood, Monaghan, ami Monk. A deputation from Newlands waited on (lie council to ask that a road should ho constructed from Ngaliaiiianga Gorgo to Xewlnnds, and a special rating area fixed. On the. motion of Councillor Moore, the chairman and the. mover were deputed to meet a. committee of the rosi(lfi)ts to discuss and determine which properties should 1)0 included in tho special arm. On the motion of the chairman it was decided that Mr. K. S. Kountlnvaito be engaged to make a survey of the tunnel below the abattoir?, to prepare plans and specifications of cost, to bo submitted to tho next meeting of the council, in;l that tho whole of the council meet tho engineer at the bend above tho abattoirs on a day. to bo fixed to decide as to tho bo? , : means of carrying out the work. Sir. W. Burr, of Karori, was appointed roadman for tho Makar.x Riding.
