The break in too weather is most unfortunate at the present time, when harvest was just getting into full swing. The rain which set in on Thursday afternoon and continued till nsxt morning appears to have been general, and was sufficiently heavy to necessitate several windy days to dry stocks. Good progress has everywhere been made with the cutting of oats, and a considerable area of wheat is now down. Thsrc has been very little thrashing of wheat yet, but several .tales have been mad 2 during the week at 3s. 3d. to 3s. 4d. at country stations. Oats are not coming in very rapidly, a»'l the demand for them is fairly keen. Some shipments are being made to Australia, though the demand from that quartor is somewhat uncertain. At present sales range from Is. IM. to 2s. at country stations for prime samples. Barley is selling at 4s. to 4s. 3d., and up to 4s. 6d. for extra prime samples, and there is also a demand for prime barley of last mason's growth. There is a fairly large quantity of ryegrass offering, but merchants complain that the hulk of the ssed is very light, and prime samples are scarce. .Sales nr« being, made at Is.
