LETTERS FROM CITIZENS. THE CITIZENS' LEAGUE. Sir,—On reading your report of the meeting of (ho Citizens' League last evening, one i» struck with the knowledge (or want of it) of (ho various speakers, mid the Hidden interest taken in civic all'airs. Anyone can Iμ wise after Ihu event, and the league would have, shown more wisdom if they had rendered assistance and mlvico to the council before, and during tho .strike, than wailing until it was at an end, and then rrilinsiiiß the actions of tho.v_« who faithfully endeavoured to conserve the best inton'sls of tho city v.nder very trying circumstances. It 'is unfortunate that the date of the, meeting lva s altered from Friday to Jliursdny (council night), as it would liavo enabled l.h<> councillors to attend and explain their action, which would doubtless have caused some of the speakers to alter their opinions. It is hoped that the league will, now they have come to life again, endeavour to'assist those who are trying to do their duly to the city.
