SUMMARY AND FORECAST

Present indications are for cloudy and colder weather, v,-ith rr.in generally and rivers rising in many parts. Strong westerly winde are probable in the north and southerly in the south. The barometer has a falling tendency northward of Westport and Kaikoura, but rising in the south and everywhere after about sixteen hours. At 10 o'clock last Hγ. Bates advised us that later indications wore more favourable than in the afternoon. Warm and humid conditions have prevailed over tho north, and 78deg. Fahrenheit aro reported at Touranga and Gisborne, but in the south the weather is cold and damp, with a temperature of 46dcR. at the Nuggets.
