BAKERS' CONFERENCE.
DELEGATES ENTERTAINED. Delegates to the conference of master bakers, at present being held in Wellington, were entertained by the local association at a smoke concert at Hie Masonic Hall last evening. Mr. AY. A. Kellow presided over a pleasant gathering, which included visitors from Australia and from all parts of the Dominion. After tho toast of "Tho King" had been honoured, the visitors were welcomed by the chairman, who remarked that they were gathered together to forget business for the evening and enjoy themselves. The toast of the "Visitors," which was proposed by Mr. Mathieson, was responded to by Messrs. Burton (Auckland), C. Dyer. (Sydney). Norton (Lyttelton), G. Smerdon (Auckland), and . Lauronson (Duncdin). The musical programme included solos by Messrs. J. Searle ("Come Into the Garden, Maud".), AVilson ("Thora"). and Clarkson, and a duet by Messrs. Clarkson and Searle ("AVatchman. AVhat of the Night"). .Air. Townseml was responsible for an amusing recitation, while a number of orchestral items were also rendered. ____________
