CIVIC AFFAIRS.
CITY COUNCIL MEETING. The fortnightly meeting of the Wellington City Council was held last evening, there being present: The Acting-Mayor ('Councillor .). .Smith), and Councillors .1. Trevor, A. ]!. Atkinson, F. Cohen, ("!. Frost, J. Godber, L. M'Kcnzie, W. H. I'. Barber. J. 10. Fitzgerald, J. Fuller, jnn., A. 11. Hindmnrsh, D. M'Larrn, G. Shirtcliffe, It. Fletcher, and Dr. Cameron. 'The application of the. New Zealand Competitions Society for a further donation of .£3O towards the funds of tlio society was not acceded to. Seven ratepayers were granted loans on the deferred-payment system, in order to carry out drainage works, the applicants being without: funds. The matter of the erection of a band rotunda at Island Bay, and also the question of erection of'notices at Wadestown directing the way to the Wilton's Bush Domain was referred to the Finance Committee, with a recommendation that llio work be carried out. Mr. C. I!. Morison was appointed assessor for the corporation in. connection with the revaluation of the D.I.C. leases on the reclaimed land. Notices were authorised to ho served on the owners and occupiers of the undermentioned premises to carry out repairs, etc., as recommended bv tlio Department of Public Health:—Nos."ll and 13, Majoribanks Street; and condemnation notices served with respect to the undermentioned:—Structures at rear of premises 11 and 13 Majoribanks Street, temporary structures at rear of 5 Majoribanks Street, and premises 32 Doctor's Commons.
