BUTCHERS' SHOPS.
CITY BY-LMV TO CONTKOI, THEM. A draft by-law regulating (lie conduct of butchers' shops in tho city was adopted Ijy the City Council last evening. Shortly, tho by-law provides that after the expiration of three months from (he passing of tho by-law no person shall carry on the business of a butcher in any ."hop within tho city unless the internal walls of his shop are of glazed tiles, plaster four-i ncli tongued-and-grooved boarding, or other- approved hard and non-absorb-cnt material, and with the exception of the tiles, to be painted white in enamel paint. Scrim and paper shall not lm used for the covering of walls or ceilings. Shops shall 1« ventilated to tho .satisfaction of the City Knginecr, and the openings covered with brass-wire gauze. Shops shall be thoroughly cleaned once a day, and the owner shall exhibit in his shop a notice, printed in largo type, to tlin effect that "smoking or spitting in this shop is strictly prohibited, and is an offence against the law." It is further provided that any person engaged or employed in the transport or delivery of carcass meat within the cil> shall at all times when so engaged wear a cap, which shall be constantly covered with a detachable covering made of washable material, and he shall wear overalls made of washable material, which shall completely cover his clothes. Ho shall cause such covering and overalls lo l>e kept thoroughly clean. No persons shall use any vcliiele for tho transport or delivery of meat within the city unless the same shall be constructed or covered as to prevent as far as practicable (and with duo regard to ventilation) the access of flies, or dustto the meat carried therein, and carts or baskets for the transport or delivery of meat must bo kept covered or closed, as tho ease nulv bo, except when meat is being placed therein or taken therefrom. Alt moat shall be hung from metal rails in such a manner that it shall not be in contact with any portion of the buildi"B-
