A firo at Mnngindi (on tho northern frontier of New South Wales, on the Barwon Eiver) wiped out tho main business portion of tho town, sixteen stores and other business premises were destroyed, or badly damaged, including tho Bank of New South Wales. Many are homeless, numbers escaping in thoir night-clothes only; there was no water supply. Tho damage is in the vicinity of .630,000. The thermometer was at 108 in tho shado at tho time of the outbreak.
