(Before Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M.) WHO RESPONSIBLE? William Lowe, fruiterer, Willis Street, sued James Kirkwood for ,£•! 2s. 6d. as rent duo for two rooms in Willis Street. I'laiutifF was represented by Mr. D. G. Jackson, and defendant by. Mr. J. M. Hogbcn. Defendant held that he was not personally responsible for the money, but that the Electric Light Company, of which be was manager, was responsible. His Worship decided iu favour of the plaintiff. Ashton, £6 125., costs £1 3s. Gd. JUDGMENT SUMMONS. J. V. Dyko was ordered to pay £5 17s. 7d. to William Hannah by February 23. TOLICi: BUSINESS. (Before Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M.) William Walts pleaded guilty to deserting the steamer Ronniora. Chief Detective Broberg said that the desertion took place on December 11, 1911. Subsequently, Watts joined the steamer Maori at a higher rate of pay, and the man who filled his place on the Renniera for the voyage to England had to be paid £10. Watts was sentenced to one month's imprisonment. OTHER CASES. For insobriety, William Ballantyno was lined 10s., John Ha ugh 10s., and Henry inriii -ElJacob Hague was fined £2 for breaking a prohibition order.
