. A BEAU PUXD COLLECTION. . At s meeting of tlio council of the Wellington Zoological .Society on Tuesday evening, matters in connection with the campaign lo raise funds to purchase the bear recently placed in the Zoo were dealt with. The total receipts, including a grant hy the City Council of .£!), nmounted to .£SO vs. 7d.; of this Mini .£25 has )x?en paid lo Mr. Wirlh for the bear, t £2s to the City Council in repayment of its temporary grant towards the purchase of the bear, and 7s. 7d. has been voted to the society's funds, towards postage, stationery, etc. After Mr. J. Castle had given a linancial statement with regard to the fund, the council expressed its hearty appreciation of what had been done. Tlio amounts collected were as follow:— Collected hv Mr. P.. A.
