(By Telegraou.— Press Associa.tion.l Chrlstchurch, February 7. At the Addington live stock market today the entries of stock were fairly large, and there was a good attendance, though there were fewer farmers present than usual, owing to the harvest operations engaging their attention. Good slorc sheep sold well, and lambs were firm. Fat sheep and fat cattle were easier, but stores sold well. Fat nigs were also somewhat cheaper. . There was «n active demand for store and dairy cattle. There was a considerable increase in the numbers of store sheep offered, among which weira a, fair proportion of Marlboroueh lines. Ther? was a good demand for all dosses, and the previous week's prices were well maintained, except for fnferior and travel-stained sheep, which were somewhat easier. Forward raps lambs and good two and four-tooth ewes sold firmly at late rates, and the best class of wethers also sold well, while inferior lanibs and Mcond-class ewes were easier. There was not nuite such a. keen demand for wethers, and they declined about 6d. per head, white ewes went, back about Is. to Is" 6(1. per head, the supply of the latter being rather beyond butchers' requirements. "The range of nrims was:-l'rime wether-. 17i. to l'Js. Dunedin, February 7. At Burnsidc to-day the following were the ruling prices:—Sheep: 1834 were yarded, a small yarding, consisting principally of ewes of good quality. Owing to th'j Eiuallness of the yarding, competition was fairly animated, and prices -wer" slightly higher than last week. Best wethers sold up to 225. 6d.; and ewes, to 235. Lambs totalled 551, the comparatively small yarding being duo probably to the fact that sellers are holding back their consignments until next week when the freezer opens. The sale opened at rates a trifle better than last week, but receded beforo the close of the sale. Best lambs, 15s. 6d. to 17s. 9d.; medium, 14s. to 15s. 3d. Cattle: 137 were yarded. The lorul consignments were for the most part onlv fair and inferior finality, but there was a lino of 22 magnificent Shorthorn bullocks from the Korth Island forward. As Ul3 latter were not to be sold until fairly late the bigger buyers were not offering verv keenly for the ordinary cattb, and, therefore, notwithstanding the fact that the yarding was by no means a big one, prices were practically on a par with those ruling last week. It was confidently anticipated that tha North Island cattle would top the market at quite £5 per head.
