ABANDONED-
A FOUR-MONTHS , BABY. An unusual case of the abandoning t/f an. infant came under the notice of the police last evening. The occupants of No. 19 Parliament Street reported that at between l> and 7 o'clock in the evening they had discovered a baby on the stops approaching their house. The child is a Upy, and is alivo and well. The authorities took charge of the little, fellow, and ho is now in the Wellington Receiving Homo. He had not been neglected by whoever had left him be another's care. Ite was chubby, healthy, and well clothed. When found he I laughed brightly, and did not «ecra' tc I have suffered anything. Beside him was a feeding-bottle, in which the milk was still warm. There was also a little cardboard box of clothing planted alongside him. It is considered that the child is about four months old and it. is not supposed that it had been very long abandoned when found.
Tho entrance steps up which the baby was found ore. said to "be o.f a winding character, which would shut nut notice from the street. 'The baby was deposited cjoso up to the door of the, residence on the, premises. Investigations were commenced by Detective Kemp immediately.
