Mr. Fischet-, Union Minister for Lands, in moving the second reading of the Land Settlement Hill, declared that the Government intend to extend the system of labour colonies, recognising the necessity of augmenting (ho supply of white labour from within and without. The Government would also devise facilities to enable settlers to become land-owners. It was proposed to expend ,£1,000,000 annually on land settlement for five years.
