An Anglo-New Zealand Wedding. The marriage took place recently at the Church of St. Cross, Winchester, of ilenrietta Margaret Corfe, daughter of Mr. C. C. Corfe, formerly headmaster of Christ's College, Christchurch, to Mr. C. 0. Linton Pnlmor, M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P., of Stoke House, Gosport, and son of tho late Fleet-Surgeon J. L. Palmer, R.N., and Mrs. Palmer, of Rock Park, Rock Ferry. Tho Rev. Canon Causton officiated. The engagement is announced of Miss Dolly Hair, oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. .Tames Hair, of Nelson, to Mr. Holden Webb, of Singapore, son of Colonel W. H. Webb, late of Wellington. A Garden Fefc at the Hutt, The grounds of "Fern Grove," the residence of Mrs. Riddiford, at the Lower Hutt, wore a very picturesque and somewhat unwonted air on Saturday afternoon, the occasion being the holding of the garden fete for the purpose of benefiting the organ fund of St. James's Church, Hutt. The Weather was delightful, and a great many people were present, though not so many from Wellington as probably would have been the case had tho trams been running. In all sorts of unsuspected nooks stalls were to be found, the most picturesque of all being an arbour converted into a bower of very beautiful flowers. Tea, in charge of Mrs. Pearson, was served on a number of littlo tables placed close to the verandah, a band playing selections at intervals. Ice creams were obtained from Miss Riddiford, who was stationed at one end of the lawn. The produce stall was presided over, by Mrs. Gordon, assisted by the Misses Matthews, Wilson, and Stevens; cake stall, Mrs. Mason, Mrs. Jackson, and Mrs. Ellis; sweet stall, the Misses Foster, Humfrey, and Mason; flower stall, Mrs. Kempthorne and Mrs. Beaufort; guessing competition, Mrs. Parker; decorated bicycle competition, Dr. Purdy. Quite a feature of the occasion was the decorated bicycles, of which there were about sixteen. Three prizes were to bo awarded, and the judging was not altogether an easy task, s,o closely did some of the competitors run each other in the carrying out of their ideas. Mrs. Rose and Mrs. Mason, the two secretaries, had a very busy time, but met with much assistance from various sources, and aro to bo congratulated upon the success of their efforts. Obituary. At her residence, Hanson Street, the death took place on Friday of Mrs. Moynihan, a well-known resident of Wellington, and formerly of tho West Coast. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Robinson .(Hanson Street), Mr. W. Moynihan, Survey-'Department. Auckland, "and Mr.M. Moynihan, of Shannon. An old identity—Mrs. Glover, relict of the late Mr. John Glover—passed away yesterday. Mr. Glover har sixty years of colonial life, 43 having been spent in Nelson and Wellington. She was in barracks with her husband through part of the Maori War. She is survived by four sons and four daughters, the youngest being tho wife of Mr. C. Odlin, manager of the Timber and Hardware Company.

Dr. and Mrs. Salmond (Dunedin) and Miss Salmond left for Dunedin on Friday. ' 'IMrs. Menzies and her children returned to Wellington en Friday from a visit spent in the south. Miss Johnston (Hutt) left by the Warrimoo on Friday for Sydney, en route to India, where she will spend a few months' holiday. Mrs. W. PeDn, who has been visiting Christchurch and Wellington, has returned to New Plymouth. ' Miss E. Gray is visiting her brother, Mr. Cecil Gray, New Plymouth. Misses M. M. Evans, Wellington, L. Harper, Napier, and M. M. Jackson, Wellington, have been appointed sisters by the Napier Hospital Board out of six applications. Mrs. T. W. Balfour, formerly of Napier, is visiting the Wairarapa*, and is at present staying with Mrs. J. 0. Bidwill (Pihautea). Mrs. W. Barton (Fcatherston) leaves Wellington on the 16th inst. for Sydney, joining a North German-Lloyd steamer for Europe at the Australian port. Mrs. Barton will be accompanied by her eldest daughter, who will remain at school in England. Mrs.' D. Macdonald (Fcatherston) is at present staying in Wellington. ~¥ T i r. Tho engagement is announced of Miss Leggett, of Ashburton, to Mr. H G Groves, of "Bush Grove," Tenui, Miss Marley, for the past six years on the office staff of louug's Chemical Co severed her connection with tho firm on Saturday, on account of her approaching marriage. Mr. Bird, on behalf of her follow employees, made her a presentation as a token of their esteem, and expressed their good wishes for her future.
