| . POSITION IN AUCKLAND. Referring to tho present dairy season, the Auckland "Herald" remarks that as indicating the increasing quantities of butter coming forward, it might be pointed out that the record shipment of butter was established f.o late in the season as January 20 of this year, when 28,400 boxes of butter, equal to H,2oocwt., were shipped. Besides this there were three previous shipments which exceeded tho record for the 1910-11 season, established in the latter fortnight of December, 1910. For the present season, including tho past fortnight's shipments of butter, 215,927 boxes, equal to 107,9G3.Jcwt., have been exported, as against 200,055 boxes,, equal to 100,327.'.cwt. for last season. The increase of 15,272 boxes for this season is equal .to nearly 8 per cent. Pricey continue firm on the London markets, the. latest quotations being as follow:—New Zealand, 131s. per cwt.; Danish, 1355.; Australian, 1205.; Argentine, 1285.; and Siberian. 129,». The prices in the Vancouver and West of England markets for New Zealand butter rule about the same as in the London market. Calculated on the quotation of 131s. per cwt., the shipments for the past, fortnight should be yrorth £72.223 lis. 6d. »
Cheese export is nlso increasing Tho c&nsignnients for the past fortnight consist of 439 crates for London and 211 crates for the West of England. A total of . r i62t crates comprises the exports for this season, as against -IGB3 for the corresponding period of last season.
