(By Tol«tr»Dli.—Bweial CorresMHieat.) Palmerston, February 2. At the Supremo Court sittings, which open here before the Chief Justice on Monday next, the following cases will be dealt with:—Rex v. James Fitzgerald, assault and robbery; Rex v. Patrick M'Cafferty, assault, causing actual bodily harm; Rex v. John Cairns, impersonation; Rex. v. William Thomas Bowater, breach of Bankruptcy Act. Divorce cases set down for hearing are ,as follow:—George W. Gibbs, petitioner, v. Eva B. Gibbs and George A. Thompson, respondent and corespondent, adultery; Emily Jane Chow, petitioner (Mr. Moore), v. Kobert Chow, respondent, desertion; Isabella. M'Phun, petitioner, v. David Alexander M'Phun, respondent, desertion; George Jas. Kow, petitioner, v. Hannah Mary Laura Kow and William Nielson, respondent and oorespondent, adultory; Annie Hogan, petitioner, v. John S. Hogan, respondent, motion for decree absolute. Bankruptcy business will also be dealt with. A social and dance in aid of the funds of the Technical and High Schools was held at Stoney Creek Hall to-night, and was most successful and enjoyable, quite a number of visitors from Palmerston being present. Arthur Hosking, engineer, Palmerston, has filed a declaration of insolvency, with unsecured liabilities .filii JOs.; assets, furniture ,£24, half-interest in patents .£l5O, total .£174. The D.1.C., Wellington, is among the creditors for .£27 12s. ( 4d. The monthly meeting of the College Street School Committee was held last night, the chairman, Mr. T. R. Hodder, presiding. The headmaster reported that there were 549 names on the roll when the school closed for tho holidays, the average attendance for the previous quarter being 492. Since the reopening of the school 35 new pupils had been admitted and 42 had been marked as left. Inspector Strong's annual report was read, showing tho work for the year had been most • satisfactory. The committee congratulated the headmaster and teaching staff. A motion was also passed congratulating Mr. W. Lyon, first assistant, on, his success in securing eight pa<wes out of ten candidates prepared by him for the junior scholarship examination. It was decided to record tho committee's appreciation of Mr. T. D. M'Kenzie's work during the time he has h°?n baching at the College Street School, *nd to compliment him on his promotion 10 the Gonville School. It was resolved to arrange a picnic for the children, at a place anil on a date to be fixed, and to present tho annual prizes at the gathering. The chairman brought up the question of the erection of' baths, and after discussion it was decided to' recommend the Borough Council to bring forward another proposal to the ratepayers for the erection ot swimming baths in a central position. ■ Sir R. D. Bagnall was entertained at a banquet at tho Royal Hotel last night, prior to his leaving for Auckland, by members of the legal profession in Palmors ton &nd members the MnTiaw?iui Club. Mr. D. Buick, M.P., presided, and proposed the toast of tho health of the piest of the evening. A number of other speakers eulogised Mr. Bagnall, regretting his departure, but congratulating him on the excellent appointment he had reLoyal Manawata Lodge of Oddfellows, M.U., met last night, Bro. W. C. Dudley, N.G., in the chaiT. One new member was initiated and two others proposed. It was reported that all arrangements in connection with tho district meeting, to be held next week, were well forward.
