Advice reocived by the local agents for the Union Companj states that the Manuka left Sydney for Wellington at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Passengers for all pons number 128 saloon and 76 Eteorage. The Manuka should-make port early to-morrow morning. RECORD WHEAT FREIGHT. It is rather a strange coincidence that the British barque Dovenby, 1647 toh§ register, should again secure the highest rate paid this season for a sailing vessel, vis.; 30s. 9d. per ton. Last season (says t£e "Daily Commercial News and • Shipping List") this vessel-.toppsd the. market. at 265. 6d., and now. she has secured the highest rate paid for a sailer for many years. The D.ovenby will load at Wallaroo, which is termed one of the South Australian picked ports. Another big freight rate was also, paid last week for the Inverlyon to load at South Australia. The price reported is 295. 6d. per ton to the United Kingdom or Continent. ' MAMARI AT AUCKLAND. Captain Edward Taylor, master of the barquentinc Southern Cross, has purchased the old brig Edward, which has boon lying up at. Hobart for some time past. A few alterations have to be eO'cctcd to the vessel. and she will then load hardwood at Oakwood for Adelaide.
