THE STATION IN THE CLOUDS.

Since the lino weather set in, good progress is being made with the erection of the new wireless telegraph station on the Tinakori Hills. The stout nibble and concreto walls—two feet in thickness — havo been completed, and the workmen are at present employed in building the roof. In order that there may be a minimum amount of noiso in tho operating room from the wind, which sweeps along the ridge with umisual force from both north and south, tlio station will lmvo a flat roof with no prottiberanocs of any kind. Jt will be built of stout boards, covered with thick felt, and on top of that again will bo a coating of Neuehatel asphalt, to ensure its being weather-proof. For some' little time past tho work of making tho poles which are to carry tho aorials has been proceeding at the Government yards in town, and it is hoped to mako a start with their erection this week. The wireless equipment for tho now station is already in Wellington, and as soon as the roof is on and tho station is lined a 6tart will be made to place it in position. Tho equipment for the highpower Btation at Awanui (near Doubtless Bay, Auckland) has also arrived in Auckland, and tho work of erecting the station is being pushed on with rapidity,
