Sydney Charles Mitchcll, aged 15 years, eldest son of Mr. J. W. Mitchell, tailor, Balclutha, was drowned to-day while bathing at . Kafca Point, oh the Port llolyneaux Beach. The deceased and several other boys were having a bathe when Mitchell got out of his depth. A labourer flamed ICnud Edingbrcth Bergiuann was arrested to-day on a charge of stealing sixty-eight men's felt hats, the property of Macky, Logan, Caldwell, and Co. The hats were recently found to be missing fro in a case of hats received by tho firm named. A hat worn by Bergmann was observed by Detective Powell to resemble those in the pillaged caso, and after further inquiries tho arrest followed. Tho polico afterwards took possession of six more which wero found in Bergmann's THE OVERLAND AND HUPMOBILE CARS FOR RELIABILITY.
