HUTT VALLEY TRAMWAY.

BOARD DECIDES TO DISSOLVE,

A meeting of tho Hutt Valley Tramway Board was held last evening, when there wove tircfwut Messrs. J. W. (chairman), J. T. Hawthorne, H. E. Kemp, thorne, It. Stevens. J. Piper, and S. Burtlio secretary reported that all outstanding rates, with tho exception of .£23 Bs. Bd., had been oollected. Of this amount ,£2l was nrobnbly non-recoverable. Members of tho board expressed satisfaction with the manner ip which the rates had been collected, and congratulate ed tho socretarv on the result. Oil tho motion of Mr. 'J. Piper, seconded by Mr. 13urridgei it was agreed that a sum of ,£lO bo voted to the secretary for his services during tho vast four months, as ho had received no salary for that timo. The question of outstanding rates was discussed at some length, -elivq it was doeidod to hand them over to the local body in which were situated tho different properties on which rates were owing. Accounts amounting to JEIO Gs. were passed for payment. Mr. J. T. Hawthorns moved: "That the Hutt Valley Tramway Board bo dissolved, it having failed to formulate any scheme that meets with the approval of tho ratepayers." The mover stated that he would very much havo liked to have seen the tramway constructed. Mr. Piper seooiided the motion, which was carried unanimously. It vas further resolved that after all disbursements had been made tho balance of cash in hand, amounting to about ,£SO, bo handed over to the Hutt and the Pctone Borough Councils in equal proportions. 'Hie Hutt River Board was accorded a voto of thanks for the froo uso of its office for meetings. On the motion of the chairman, it wan resolved that the Minister for internal Affairs bo informed of the board's decision to dissolve, and that he be asked to expedite matters relating to the formal ilis. solution.
