AMATEUR ATHLETICS.
THE LOCAL CENTRE. A meeting of the Wellington Centre of the Xew Zealand Amateur Athletic Association was hclit last night. Mr. \V. H. I'ollocU- presided. The Victoria College. Club's annual sports are to be hold on Kelburiie Park uu March 'Jo, if the ground can ho secured. The Karori Club is to be allowed to hold an afternoon meeting on March •-', and to hold its postponed meeting on .February 21. The Athletic Football Sports Club was granted permission to hold an evening meeting on the liasin Reserve on Pcbruary Tho Wairarapn. Amateur Athletic Club, MiisliTiiiii, were i.'iven pennission to run certain events at a sports meeting to be held on February 1. The sports are to assist in improving the Maslerton Park, and the club asked that in view of the circumstances no fee should be charscd. The association decided to charge half-fco. Permission was given to the Wellington Club to hold an evening meeting on January 31. The Canterbury Centre wrote that; they contemplated holding a meeting on flic* Saturday previous to the dale of the New Zealand championships, ami that they were desirous of information as to the ehance-i of getting the Wellington learn down for the meeting. The matter will lio gone into at. the next meeting, and a provisional Idler will be sent in (he meantime. The New Zealand Association wrote saying that, in several eases, I lie rule providing for proper cesluiiiiug of runners was not being adhered to, and the dress of some competitors at the recent championship meeting had caused comment.
