SUMMARY AND FORECAST. Present indications are for- mild and changeable weather, westerly breezes, and the barometer rising slowly for a short time, but a low pressure area now apparently only of Bmall intensity is due to pass in the south about Sunday. An improvement in general conditions is reported today, but cloudy weather and drizzling rain have prevailed in many parts. Moderate westerly winds have predominated, with a southerly tendency in the South Island. B. 0. BATES. Itetcorological Office, Wellington, January 25, 1912. DISTRICT REPORTS. Palmerston, January 25—Fine, but thread ening to-night. ■ Carterton. January 25—Fine warm wcather prevails. A little rajn fell last night. Jlasterton, January 25—The thermometer to-day registered 81 degrees in the 6hadc, which is the highest reading for at least two years. Fcatherstcm, January 25.—Bright, warm day. Hastings, January 25—To-day, the weather has been warm and fine.
