' (By 'Teleeraph.-Special CorresrondenU . • ; Masterton, January 2J. .Mr. Charles'.Ayl-mer Pownall, solicitor, died here'about five o'clock this evenin° after, an. illness of three or four weeks! Deceased, who was forty-seven years of ago,-had..been thrice Mayor of'Masterton. He had also been captain of the volunteers, steward of the-'Racing Club member of the Trust Lands Trust, and a prominent cricketer and footballer. He is to'-bo accorded a military,., funeral-on ■ Friday.
