HOME RULE.
A BITTER FIGHT IN ULSTER. MR. CHURCHILL'S VISIT, By Teleeraph—Fresi Assoclitlon-Oopytlghi (Eec. January 24, 11 p.m.) London, January 24. . The Ulster Liberal Association states that the visit of Mr. Winston Churchill, First Lord of tho Admiralty, is the outcome of a long-standing invitation. The members of the association have absorbed the seating 'accommodation, and none will bo availabla for the public. Aβ the members are mostly Protestant, the association ridicules the idea that the meeting will be a Nationalist gathering. The association's committee has adopted a resolution expressing its determination to defend Constitutional rights, and to hold the meeting against the forces of lawlessness. . Sir Edward Carson, M.P., in a speech at Manchester, said he thought a responsible Minister should have outlined the proposed Irish Constitution. Hβ believed the Government did not know themselves what Homo Rule wa-s going to be. Every line they wrote had to be edited by Mr. Redmond, who in turn was edited by a greater force behind. Mr. Hobhouse, Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, in a speech at East Bristol, said the Conservative leaders' speeches in Lancashire in their Anti-Home Rule campaign, contained threats which the Government could only view seriously. ORANGEMEN'S INTENTIONS. London, January 23. I The Unionists have engaged the Ulster Hall for February 7 and 9. It is rumoured that they intend to pack the hall with Orange stalwarts, who will refuse to leave, and thus the meeting at which Mr. Winston Churchill, First Lord of the Admiralty, proposes to speak in favour of Home Rule will be blocked. ULSTER'S INTOLERANCE. London, January 23. The Right Hon. Herbert Samuel, Post- : master-General, speaking at Redcar, in Yorkshire, said that had Ulster's intolerance prevailed in England no Empire would havo existed. No colony or dependency or protectorate would have tolerated a rule bo oppressive and arrogant.
